In the early part of the 21st century, NASA carried out the SATS (Small Air Transportation System) program. Conceived in the late 90's the program looked at freeing people from archaic forms of time consuming transport and allowing a greater freedom for rural communities and their development. Many ideas were explored including the infrastructure issues and revitalisation of disused airfields for Air-Taxi operations. Many years later Europe took the idea onboard and launched its own program called EPATS (European Personal Air Transportation System) which after several years concluded very similar results. Both programs show a need and drive towards faster, lower cost forms of high speed travel without the delays caused by the congestion of roads.
In the last 5 years we have seen multiple prototypes of autonomous drones that can carry a person from A-to-B, but they all have issues with endurance and basic safety. Several simple solutions have been incorporated into our designs that eradicate several of these basic problems. Patents are now being filed to protect our development work and soon we will be moving forward with development. The opportunities are vast, market potential enormous and combined with enhancing the capability for support services such as police/coast guard/paramedics etc. the future of Personal Air Vehicles is looking very good indeed.
